WhatsApp Banned in China

The list of banned tech giant companies in China is getting larger day by day. After Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Google, now the name of instant messaging service ‘WhatsApp’ has been added to the block list of the Chinese Government. Chinese internet service blocked the access to WhatsApp on September 25, 2017 at night, as informed a censorship observatory agency ‘The Open Observatory of Network Interference (OONI)’. In fact, the procedure to block WhatsApp got started from last September 19, 2017.
Current ruling party in China Communist Party’s 19th National Congress Session is supposed to be held in next October. This session is usually organized for once in every 5 years. The encrypted messaging service has been basically blocked to ensure the security of the government officials.
